A video claiming to show India’s Border Security Force (BSF) stealing a white goat at the Bangladesh border has been circulating on Facebook. The footage features soldiers in BSF uniforms with a white goat. However, Dismislab’s fact-check reveals that the video is AI-generated.

On December 6, the video was shared from a personal Facebook profile with the caption, “🇧🇩🇮🇳 India’s BSF stole Bangladesh’s goat 🐐”.

Fact-check: AI-generated video falsely claims India’s BSF stole a white goat at the Bangladesh border

To verify the claims, Dismislab conducted a search using various relevant keywords and found a video published by multiple Bangladeshi news outlets (1, 2) on the same date, showing BSF members chasing a black goat near the border gate. In that footagআe, two helmeted soldiers are seen: one wielding a stick and the other attempting to capture the goat. Although filmed from a distance, the soldiers’ uniforms confirm their affiliation with the BSF.

In contrast, the video circulating on Facebook depicts several BSF soldiers holding a white goat. Notably, at the 4-second and 2-minute 9-second marks, the goat’s head abruptly transforms into its legs, and vice versa. Additionally, the goat’s horn size fluctuates throughout the video. The hair on its chin sometimes appears very long and sometimes disappears. A bell-like object appears around its neck at times and then vanishes.

The Deepfake-O-Meter analysis shows the video has a 100% likelihood of being AI-generated.

Moreover, using the advanced “Deepfake-O-Meter” AI detection tool, AVSRDD (2025), it was determined that the video has a 100 percent probability of being AI-generated. This strongly suggests that the circulating video was created using artificial intelligence.

In summary, while it is true that BSF soldiers stole a goat at the Bangladesh border, the video showing the theft of a white goat circulating on Facebook is not authentic and was created using AI technology.
