Old video of fire at Tel Aviv weapons depot passed off as recent Iranian missile strike
A video is circulating on Facebook with the claim that an Iranian missile has struck a weapons depot in Tel Aviv. However, a fact-check by Dismislab reveals that the video is old. The footage was posted by multiple X (formerly Twitter) accounts on October 24, 2024.
On October 28, a video was posted from a personal Facebook profile with the caption, “Tel Aviv. An Iranian missile has hit the weapons depot. Allahu Akbar.” Until the publication of this report, the post has received at least 2,300 reactions, and the video has been viewed more than 29,000 times. The video was also posted with the same claim from multiple personal Facebook profiles (1, 2, 3) and a page.

A reverse image search of various keyframes led Dismislab to a video published by the verified X account of the Israeli media outlet News 12. The caption of the video, published on October 26, 2024, stated: “A fire broke out in a building on Korkidi Street in Tel Aviv-Yafo. Currently, 7 fire service teams are working there.”

Additionally, an X account named War Intel posted the video on the same day with an identical caption. This footage is an exact match to the circulating video.
Further verification led to reports from multiple fact-checking organizations (1, 2) confirming that the circulating video was published in 2024.
For context, the United States and Israel have carried out attacks on various locations in Iran, including the capital, Tehran. In response, Iran has fired missiles at northern Israel and U.S. military bases in several Middle Eastern countries. In the ongoing conflict, the Iranian state news agency IRNA (Islamic Republic News Agency) has confirmed the news of the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In short, a video more than a year old is being circulated with the claim of an Iranian missile attack on a weapons depot in Tel Aviv.
