On July 12, several old videos were circulated on social media throughout the day, falsely claiming that activists from the National Citizen Party (NCP) and Jamaat-Shibir had attacked and set fire to Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) offices in Dhaka, Comilla, Jessore and Jhenaidah. Dismislab verified five of the videos allegedly showing attacks on BNP offices and found they were not recent. The misleading footage was shared amid protests following the death of scrap trader Sohag in front of Mitford Hospital in Dhaka.
