Fake Amar Desh photocard claims Jamaat chief’s India visit at BJP’s invitation
A photocard carrying the logo of the daily Amar Desh has spread on Facebook claiming that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman is going to Delhi at the invitation of the BJP. However, Dismislab’s fact-check found that Amar Desh did not publish any such card.
On December 21, a photocard carrying an image of the Jamaat chief was posted from a Facebook group. Inside the photocard, imitating the daily Amar Desh, the text reads, “Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman is going on a Delhi visit at the invitation of the BJP.” The logo of the daily Amar Desh can also be seen at the top of the card. In addition, “21 December 2025” is written at the bottom right, and the newspaper’s website address is shown on the left.

The same photocard was also posted from multiple personal Facebook profiles (1, 2) and a group. The caption of one post said, “Alhamdulillah, our leader, Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, is going on a Delhi visit at the invitation of the BJP! Hopefully, India–Bangladesh relations will become stable this time, Inshallah.” Reading the comments below the card shows that many users assumed the news to be true.
During verification, Dismislab checked the photocards and posts published on the daily’s Facebook page on December 21, but found no such posts or cards.
Dismislab also contacted the newspaper, and its Associate Editor, Alfaz Anam, confirmed that the photocard is fake.
It is worth mentioning that on December 17, the Jamaat Ameer went on a visit to the United Kingdom. Although he was supposed to return on December 21, he cut the trip short and returned on the 20th after hearing the news of Osman Hadi’s death. So far, no media outlet has published any news about Dr. Shafiqur Rahman’s visit to India. No related information has been found on Jamaat-e-Islami’s website or official Facebook page either.
Therefore, the photocard circulated in the name of the daily Amar Desh is fake. Previously, multiple fake photocards involving Jamaat-e-Islami circulated on social media in the name of Amar Desh, some of which were fact-checked by Dismislab.
