A video is circulating on Facebook claiming that it shows a bomb attack at the residence of Environment Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan and that the video shows that incident. But Dismislab’s fact-check found that the original video is CCTV footage of an explosion on 14 November at the Nowgam Police Station in Jammu and Kashmir, India.

A personal Facebook profile posted a video with the caption: “Just now, CCTV footage of a bo*mb atta*ck at Advisor Rizwana’s house….” The same video was posted with the same claim from several personal profiles (1, 2) and groups (1, 2). The 4-second video mainly shows a CCTV clip of an explosion taking place in front of a building.

To verify the source of the video, Dismislab conducted a reverse image search and found a report published on November 15 by Asianet News. The headline was “9 Dead In J&K blast: CCTV Shows Moment Massive Blast Hit Nowgam Police Station (WATCH).”

The report says a powerful explosion ripped through the Nowgam police station on the outskirts of J&K’s Srinagar, killing nine people and injuring 27 others, most of whom are police personnel and forensic experts. A CCTV clip, now circulating widely, captures the exact moment the blast tore through the station.

The report also states that the explosion erupted as investigators were examining a massive cache of explosives seized from a recently unearthed “white-collar” terror module. The detonation rocked the entire area, caving in parts of the police station building and triggering chaos.

Additionally, CNN News18 published a YouTube video on November 15 with the caption reading, “Nowgam Police Station Rocked by Blast—Multiple Cops Hurt, Investigation Underway.” The segment from 1:22 to 1:25 in the 4:54-minute video matches exactly with the video being circulated.

Further verification through keyword searches brought up several reports (1, 2, 3, 4) from different news outlets about the incident. A BBC report published the same day was titled, “Nine killed in accidental blast at police station in Indian-administered Kashmir, officials say.”

In other words, the video being circulated is actually CCTV footage of the explosion at the Nowgam Police Station in Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is being shared in Bangladesh with a false claim.

For context, on 17 November, two crude bombs exploded in front of the residence of Syeda Rizwana Hasan, who works with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources. However, no one was injured in that incident.
