An NTV photocard is circulating on social media, claiming that a study found the Jamaat-e-Islami alliance would win 163 seats in the upcoming national election. However, Dismislab’s fact-check found the photocard is fake. The media outlet also confirmed to Dismislab that it did not publish such a photocard.

A group named Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami posted the supposed NTV photocard. The caption read, “Inshallah, a study has revealed that the Jamaat-e-Islami alliance has the possibility of winning 163 to 167 seats in the national election, and if Jamaat-e-Islami forms a grand alliance, the possibility increases to 173 to 187 seats, Inshallah.” (spelling unchanged). Several personal profiles (1, 2, 3, 4) and groups (1, 2, 3) on Facebook posted the same photocard with the same claim.

The text inside the photocard claimed, “Jamaat alliance to win 163 seats, says research.” The date “09 November 2025” was printed on it. The design used the name, logo, and layout of other official NTV photocards.

Its online editor, Fokhruddin Jewel, said the photocard was fake and that NTV did not publish it. Later, NTV confirmed on its verified Facebook page that it had nothing to do with the photocard. Therefore, the photocard bearing NTV’s name and logo and claiming that the Jamaat alliance would win 163 seats is fake.

Fact-checkers have already debunked several fake photocards bearing NTV’s name, claiming Jamaat will win in a certain number of seats. On October 22, Dismislab fact-checked a fake photocard spread under NTV’s name, falsely quoting the National Citizen Party’s chief organizer, Hasnat Abdullah. Similar fake photocards have also been fact-checked by Rumor Scanner (1, 2, 3).
