Scene from July Charter signing ceremony falsely shared as video of slogans chanting Hasina's name
A video has recently spread on the social media platform Facebook claiming that slogans are being raised in the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s name. However, Dismislab’s fact-check found that the video is actually from the removal of protesters who had gathered in front of the Parliament building during the July Charter signing ceremony in October 2025.
On July 25, a Facebook profile posted a 6-second video, which shows a large crowd in the Parliament area. Part of the crowd moves toward the camera. A person is heard narrating in a commentary style, saying, “Viewers, you can see them chanting ‘Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Hasina.'” As of this report’s publication, the video had been viewed more than 600,000 times and shared over 7,000 times. Users were seen making various comments in the post in support of the Awami League.
The same video was posted from another profile stating, “Protest march organized by Dhaka Jubo League of Nandail, Mymensingh, demanding the withdrawal of the illegal ban on the activities of Bangladesh Awami League and all its affiliated organizations, and the release of all political prisoners.” As of this report’s publication, the video had been viewed more than 100,000 times and shared over 500 times.

By taking several keyframes from the video and running a reverse image search, Dismislab, during its investigation, found a video published on a YouTube channel named Dhaka Journal. The video’s title reads, “How police removed the July fighters from the Parliament building area.” Published on October 17, 2025, the 1-minute-57-second video’s 42-second mark shows several people whose clothing and the scene of the crowd match with the recently spread video.
Searching relevant keywords for more details, Dismislab found another video published on a YouTube channel named Tothyobrittanto. Published on October 17, 2025, the video’s title reads, “July fighters expelled from Parliament building.” The clothing and other visuals of the people in the video’s 5-second scene fully match the scene in the recently circulated video. In this video, the crowd is heard chanting “Fake, fake,” and at one point, “They’re shooting, they’re shooting” is also heard. No one is heard chanting “Sheikh Hasina” in this video.
Relevant keyword searches led to news reports published by multiple media outlets on this incident (1, 2, 3, 4). These reports reveal that this incident occurred on October 17, 2025, at the South Plaza of the National Parliament building during the July Charter signing ceremony. That day, demonstrators, comprising individuals injured in the July Uprising and families of the martyred, initially gathered for a sit-in at the Parliament premises on Manik Mia Avenue to press home a three-point demand – including granting the injured the status of “July injured heroes” and ensuring their social security.
