Old video of Chattogram circulated as recent Awami League procession in the capital
A video has spread across multiple social media platforms claiming to show a procession of the Bangladesh Chhatra League in the heart of Dhaka after iftar (the fast-breaking meal) on the 4th of March. However, a fact-check reveals that the video was not filmed in the capital; it actually depicts a year-old incident in Chattogram.
An online page named Bangladesh Voice, which claims to be a news media outlet on Facebook, posted a video with the caption, “We are not lost, nor are we finished. The time has come to move forward, saying “Joy Bangla.” In the video, protesters are seen chanting slogans such as “Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Hasina” and “Sheikh Hasina will come, Bangladesh will smile.” The text overlaid on the video reads, “Chhatra League procession in the heart of Dhaka after iftar,” and provides the date “March 4, 2026. “To date, the video has been viewed more than 33,000 times and shared over 200 times.

The video from Bangladesh Voice was also shared by the verified Facebook page of the banned student organization, Bangladesh Chhatra League. This post has also been shared over 150 times. One user commented, “Mujib’s spring is arriving on the streets.” Another wrote, “You can no longer suppress [us].”

Additionally, the same video has spread on the social media platform X (1, 2, 3, 4). An X account named BDforNouka shared the 40-second video with the text: “A procession of Mujib’s soldiers in the capital, Dhaka, this evening after iftar. On this day of independence, Mujib, we remember you. ” To date, it has been reposted six more times.
A keyframe search by Dismislab located multiple media reports (1, 2) published on March 25 of last year. The images published in these media reports are an exact match to the circulating video. Photos taken from this video were found in those reports. The buildings on both sides of the road, the pickup van, and the clothing of the participants visible in the video match the report photos perfectly.

According to the reports, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, the banned student organization Chhatra League held a “flash” (jhotika) procession in the Chawkbazar area of Chattogram city. Leaders and activists of the organization brought out this procession on Chotteshwari Road in the city during iftar.
In short, the video circulating with the claim of a recent Awami League procession in the capital is actually footage of an incident in Chattogram from nearly one year ago.
