Fake Ekhon TV photocard circulates claiming Jamaat-US deal
A photocard carrying the logo of Ekhon TV has been circulating on Facebook, claiming that a Tk 40‑billion deal was made to “implement America’s agenda” in Bangladesh, with Jamaat’s scale symbol featured prominently in the graphic. But a Dismislab fact-check found that Ekhon TV did not publish the photocard.
On February 7, a personal Facebook profile posted the image with the caption:
“Exposing the hypocrites – they want to implement America’s agenda in Bangladesh in exchange for Tk 40 billion.”
The photocard contains a collage of three images: two photos of a young woman wearing clothing printed with the Jamaat scale symbol and Thai text, and a bottom image showing a group of people seated in an audience. The Ekhon TV logo appears at the center. Inside the graphic, the text reads: “A Tk 40‑billion deal made to implement America’s agenda in Bangladesh.”
As of this report, the post had more than 1,000 reactions, 570 shares and 130 comments. One user wrote: “This is not the Islam of Madinah; this is the Islam of Mawdudi.” Another commented: “A party that openly rejects the obligation of hijab can never be an Islamic party.”

Dismislab reviewed photocards and posts on the official Ekhon TV Facebook page to verify the claim. No such graphic or news report appeared on the channel’s verified page or website. Several differences were also noted between the fake card and authentic Ekhon TV graphics: the outlet typically uses white and yellow fonts, while the circulated card uses black text; the font style does not match Ekhon TV’s standard design; and the text includes spelling errors not found in official visuals.
For further clarification, Dismislab contacted Ekhon TV. Anisur Suman, the outlet’s web and content in‑charge and joint news editor, confirmed: “Ekhon TV did not publish any such photocard. We do not produce materials that defame any political party or harm the reputation of the state.”
A reverse image search of the bottom photo used in the graphic led to a February 6 Rtv report titled: “Diplomats from 38 countries attend BNP’s election manifesto event.” That report noted strong interest among foreign diplomats in the BNP’s future foreign policy orientation. Attendees included China’s Ambassador Yao Wen and EU Ambassador Charles Whiteley.
In short, the photocard circulated about Jamaat was not produced by Ekhon TV. It is fabricated.
