The statement of the Pakistani embassy in Dhaka helping to the protestors is false

A fake statement in the name of the Pakistani Embassy in Dhaka recently on social media surrounding the ongoing movement (1,2,3,4,5) has been observed to spread. According to the statement, the Pakistani Embassy has opened its doors of assistance to the protesting students. However, the Pakistani embassy in Dhaka confirmed to Dismislab that the statement was false.

A statement bearing the logo of the Pakistani embassy in Bangladesh was seen circulating on several social media accounts. The statement is said to have been issued on August 2. The statement reads, “Pakistan Embassy in Dhaka has issued a statement regarding the ongoing student movement in Bangladesh. The embassy is aware of the three student coordinators involved in the movement seeking assistance. In response, the Embassy is assuring students that they are ready to support them in need. The Embassy’s doors are open to any students who need assistance and are encouraged to seek help.” The e-mail address and phone number of the embassy are also provided to contact the High Commission in case of emergency.

But the official of the Pakistani embassy X (formerly Twitter) account And verified Facebook account too No such statement was found. 

However, last July 18 warned Pakistani citizens staying in Bangladesh, a statement the Embassy revealed. “Due to ongoing protests, Pakistani nationals residing in Bangladesh are advised to exercise caution during their movement and avoid areas where protests are taking place,” it said.

The statement dated 18th also gives similar contact instructions in case of emergency. Basically, by editing this statement, a fake statement of standing by the movement was created. 

A series of posts featuring Maliha Anjum have circulated online, purportedly taken from a Facebook profile. Screenshots of these posts, along with a fabricated statement allegedly from the verified Facebook profile of Chhatra League General Secretary Tanveer Hasan Saikat, have also been widely shared. 

Upon investigation, the Pakistani Embassy in Bangladesh confirmed to Dismislab that the statement attributed to Saikat is indeed false. The embassy further clarified this on their official X (formerly Twitter) account and verified Facebook page, where they categorically debunked the false claims.
