Video of Indian Bus Conductor Shared Claiming to Show Nangalkot Upazila Shibir President
A video claiming that the president of Islami Chhatra Shibir’s Nangalkot upazila unit in Cumilla was caught on a bus with a woman has been circulating on Facebook. However, Dismislab’s factcheck found that the video is from India. According to several Indian media outlets, the man in the video is Govind Singh. He is a bus conductor of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation.
The video was uploaded on October 3 from a Facebook page named Bangladesh “Awami Swecchasebak League”. The caption read, “The president of Islami Chhatra Shibir’s Nangalkot upazila in Cumilla was caught with a woman while traveling by bus. Shame on those who trade religion.” The video has been shared more than 290 times so far. The video was also shared by several other profiles and pages (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7).
Multiple keyframe searches from the video revealed an older video on Instagram, showing the same scene . The video was posted on July 1, 2023, from an account named Let’s Unmute India. The caption read, “Bus conductor caught having sex on a moving bus #UttarPradesh.”
Further verification through relevant keyword searches found multiple reports from Indian media outlets (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6). Analysis of those reports showed that the video is from an incident in Uttar Pradesh, India. A bus conductor named Govind Singh was recorded by passengers after being found in an objectionable position with a woman.
An Indian news outlet, Daily Jagran, published a report on July 1, 2023, with the headline, “Conductor arrested for having sexual relations with a woman on a moving bus; FIR filed.” The report stated that the incident took place on a moving bus of the Hathras Depot of Uttar Pradesh Roadways. Passengers recorded the scene on their phones, and the video later spread on social media and went viral.
After the incident, authorities took action against the driver and the conductor and terminated their contracts, Dainik Jagran reported. Another outlet, LatestLY, also published a report with similar details.
Another Indian media outlet, ABP Ananda, reported that the accused bus conductor’s name is Govind Singh. Several other online media outlets also mentioned the same name (1, 2).
So the video being circulated claiming to show the president of Islami Chhatra Shibir’s Nangalkot upazila unit being detained on a bus is actually an old incident from Uttar Pradesh, India. And the man seen in the video is Govind Singh, a bus conductor of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation.
