A photocard has recently been shared on Facebook, claiming to be from the media outlet RTV. It claims that ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will return to the country next month and has therefore instructed party leaders and activists who fled abroad to return home. However, Dismislab’s fact-check found that the photocard is fake.

On June 8, the photocard featuring an image of Sheikh Hasina was shared from a Facebook group called “Supporter of Bangladesh Awami League.” The photocard, which features RTV’s logo, has yellow and white text both in the caption and inside the card itself, reading, “Sheikh Hasina returning to the country next month, instructs party leaders and activists abroad to return home” (verbatim). The photocard’s caption reads, “Insha’Allah. Waiting for our leader ❤️.”

At the top left of the card is RTV’s logo, and in the middle, the date “07 June 2026” is mentioned. Below that, the media outlet’s website address and a QR code for the report are also given on the card. The same photocard was also posted from a Facebook page.

Analyzing the circulated photocard reveals several inconsistencies compared to RTV’s genuine photocards. The font and text size of the circulated photocard are also larger than usual. In addition, spelling errors were found in the headline used on the photocard. Scanning the RTV QR code used on the card leads to the link of a different report altogether. The headline of that report was, “Attempt to murder an Awami League leader by throwing him into a river.”

To confirm the authenticity of the photocard, Dismislab inspected the photocards and posts from RTV’s verified Facebook page for June 7, as well as reports on the website. However, no such photocard or report link was found on the media outlet’s verified Facebook page.

To further confirm this, Dismislab contacted RTV. Abu Azad, RTV’s online in-charge, told Dismislab that the outlet had not published any such photocard or report.

In other words, a fake photocard bearing RTV’s name is being circulated on social media claiming that Sheikh Hasina herself will return to the country next month and has instructed party leaders and activists who fled the country to return. Previously, similar instances of fake photocards bearing the media outlet’s name on social media were also covered in a Dismislab fact-check report.
