A photo and video circulating on social media claim to show a U.S. base burning in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, a fact-check by Dismislab found that the claim is false. The footage is from an earlier Israeli airstrike in Yemen, not from Saudi Arabia.

A Facebook profile named “Khilafat Amader Target” posted a 13‑second clip with the caption: “The U.S. base in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is burning—Alhamdulillah.” Several other (1234) profiles and pages shared the same footage.

Reverse‑image searches of keyframes traced the identical video to a post on X, where the caption read: “Ongoing attack on Yemen’s Hodeidah port; hundreds of civilians killed.” That post was published on July 21, 2024.

Further verification found the same footage on the YouTube channel of a Yemen‑based news outlet. Its caption stated: “New footage of Israeli airstrikes on Hodeidah port.” The video was uploaded on July 20, 2024.

International media coverage corroborates this. According to multiple outlets (12), including Al Jazeera (July 20, 2024), Israel launched airstrikes on Hodeidah port in Yemen in response to a drone attack by Houthi rebels on Tel Aviv. The Israeli strikes targeted fuel depots and a power station, triggering a massive fire. At least six people were killed and 87 injured.

The video shared as evidence of a U.S. military base burning in Riyadh is actually footage from Israel’s July 2024 airstrike on Yemen’s Hodeidah port. It has no connection to Saudi Arabia or any U.S. base.
