Claim that Shadik Kayem held gathering at Sheikh Hasina's Gopalganj home is false
A video has been circulating on YouTube claiming that a massive crowd gathered to see Md. Abu Shadik Kayem, Vice President (VP) of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), at an assembly held in Sheikh Hasina’s ancestral home in Gopalganj.
However, a Dismislab fact-check reveals this claim is false. Shadik Kayem confirmed to Dismislab that he did not participate in any assembly in Gopalganj. On November 30, a YouTube channel called “Insaf Kothon” posted a video with the title: “Shadik Kayem’s assembly at Hasina’s house || A massive crowd gathers to see Shadik Kayem in Gopalganj.” The video has been viewed more than 27,000 times and received 765 reactions so far.

Reverse image search of the keyframes of the video found two videos (1, 2) published on YouTube on November 22 this year. According to the titles of those videos, Shadik Kayem delivered a speech criticizing the BNP in Khulna regarding the upcoming parliamentary elections. Some clips from the videos of Shadik Kayem’s speech were used in the video that falsely claimed to be from Gopalganj.
Furthermore, multiple videos (1, 2) posted on Facebook on November 29 show Shadik Kayem participating in the election campaign for Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Selim Uddin in Golapganj in the Sylhet-6 constituency. A report from the Daily Sylheter Dak also confirmed Shadik Kayem’s presence at Selim Uddin’s campaign.
Additionally, a report from the news outlet Sara Bangla stated that Shadik Kayem also campaigned for Jamaat-e-Islami parliamentary candidate Zainal Abedin that same day in Companiganj under the Sylhet-4 constituency. Earlier, on November 26, he took part in a gathering in Manikchhari, his home district of Khagrachhari, where he urged people to choose the “Symbol of Justice” (Insafer Protik).
For further verification, Dismislab reached out to Shadik Kayem, who confirmed that he did not participate in any assembly in Gopalganj.
In other words, the claim that Shadik Kayem visited Sheikh Hasina’s house in Gopalganj is false.
