Russian video circulated as assault on NCP leader
A video circulating on Facebook claims that a leader of the National Citizen Party (NCP) was beaten in the capital failing to provide a job even after taking money. However, Dismislab’s fact-check has found that the video being circulated is not from Bangladesh. It shows a teenage girl in Kirov, Russia, being beaten by another girl of the same age.
On September 6, a five-second video was posted from a page on Facebook. The video shows a person dressed in white repeatedly punching and kicking a woman in the face. The victim is seen covering her face with both hands. The post’s caption read, “Severe be*ating* of NCP leader in Dhaka for taking money and not giving a job.”
As of the publication of this report, the video had been viewed more than 15,000 times and shared 42 times. Users reacted to the post more than 100 times.

The video was also posted with the same claim from another page on Facebook.
To verify its authenticity, a reverse image search was conducted using keyframes from the video. This led Dismislab to two videos from a verified X account named Flankes. The scene in the second of the videos, posted on September 5, was found to be an exact match with the scene in the circulating video. The caption of the post read, “These Russians sometimes have no sense of compassion at all.” The first video posted from that account shows a girl on the street, together with several people around her, kicking another girl in the face and laughing among themselves about it.

The same video was posted from another X account on September 4. The caption of the first part of the 33-second video states, “In Vyatskiye Polyany in Russia’s Kirov region, a girl jumped up and pinned another girl against a wall, beating her. This was because the girl’s boyfriend had left her for the other girl, because she was more beautiful. The girl struck her head hard against the brick wall twice and fell into a knockout.”
For further verification, a search using relevant keywords led Dismislab to a report published by the Russian weekly news outlet “Argumenty i Fakty” (Аргументы и факты). The report reveals that a teenage girl in Kirov, Russia, was the victim of an assault by another girl of the same age. Members of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) expressed concern over the incident. As soon as these videos were published on social media, law enforcement agencies took action.

In other words, a video from Russia was circulated with a false claim that it showed the beating of an NCP leader in Dhaka.
