A photo card is being circulated on social media with the claim that the body of a leader of the Jubo Mohila League has been found, alleging she was killed due to her association with the Awami League. Additionally, the post baselessly mentions that over 12,000 Awami League leaders and activists have been killed. However, Dismislab’s verification found no political link to this incident. Reports from several news outlets have described the incident as a suicide.

The shared photo card on social media features an image of a woman with the text below reading, “Jubo Mohila League leader Lucky’s body recovered.” The post claims, “Since August 5, a total of 12,034 Awami League leaders and activists, including Lucky, have been brutally killed — how many deaths qualify as genocide? The anti-independence forces are carrying out a genocide of pro-liberation leaders and activists in just two months, similar to the genocide on March 25. Will Bangladesh forgive you?” (1, 2, 3, 4). Some posts also include hashtags like #StepDownYunus, #StepDownYunus, and #stepdowndryunus.

Verification by Dismislab reveals that on October 31, police recovered the body of Jubo Mohila League leader Tanzila Khanom Lucky in Tongi, Gazipur. Multiple news outlets have reported on this incident (1, 2, 3, 4). According to these reports, the cause was not political but rather related to family disputes, leading her to take her own life. Jugantor’s report includes a statement from Lucky’s sister, who said, “Suman and Lucky married after a relationship, and they have three children. Since their marriage, Suman often quarreled over minor household matters and even beat my sister… From evening until midnight on Wednesday, they argued again. I went to sleep later. In the morning, when I woke up and went to their room, I found my sister hanging from the ceiling fan, while Suman was asleep on the floor. Hearing my scream, he woke up, and we then took my sister down onto the bed. After that, Suman left the house and couldn’t be contacted; his phone is switched off.”

Tongi West Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Iskandar Habibur Rahman commented on the incident, saying, “The body of a woman who committed suicide due to marital conflict has been recovered. Legal actions are in process regarding this matter.”

While Dismislab could not confirm whether the incident was a suicide or murder, no political connection was found. The deceased, Tanzila Khanom Lucky, was the former General Secretary of the Jubo Mohila League for Tongi East Police Station.

The caption also claims that, following Sheikh Hasina’s fall on August 5, 12,034 Awami League leaders and activists were brutally killed. However, no information supporting this claim was found in the media. Dismislab also searched the official Facebook page of the Awami League but found no evidence to back this assertion.
