Photo showing Juma with Osman Hadi murder suspect is AI‑generated
Claims have surfaced on Facebook alleging that Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) leader Fatema Tasnim Juma was involved in the killing of Inquilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Bin Hadi. As supposed evidence, users circulated a photo appearing to show Juma alongside Faisal Karim Masud, the prime accused in the murder. A Dismislab fact-check finds the photo to be AI‑generated.
A Facebook profile under the name “Talent Kanti Das” posted the image with the caption: “Guys, apparently Juma is involved in Hadi’s murder. She has closed her Facebook ID and taken a safe exit. Look at the level of the game being played.” The post had received more than 400 reactions at the time this report was written.
To verify the authenticity of the image, Dismislab examined it using Google’s AI‑detection tool SynthID. The analysis showed that parts of the photo had been created or altered using Google’s AI model. SynthID is a digital watermarking technology developed by Google to identify images, audio, video and text generated with its artificial intelligence tools.

According to reports published by multiple news outlets (1, 2, 3), Indian police arrested Faisal Karim Masud — the prime suspect in the killing of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi — along with his associate Alamgir Hossain during the night of March 8. The West Bengal Special Task Force confirmed the arrests in an official press release issued on Sunday, March 8.
In short, the photo circulating on social media showing Juma with Faisal Karim Masud is not real. It was created using artificial intelligence and does not prove any connection between her and the murder case.
