Video claiming Israel’s military headquarters was destroyed actually shows damage from a strike in Iran
A video circulating on Facebook claims that Iran destroyed Israel’s military headquarters in a recent attack. A fact-check by Dismislab finds the claim to be false. The footage shows the aftermath of an airstrike on Iran’s Council of Experts building, not a site in Israel.
A Facebook page named “Chetana News” posted the 11‑second video with the caption: “Iran attacks and destroys Israel’s military headquarters — Alhamdulillah.” By the time this report was prepared, the video had been viewed at least 30,000 times, shared more than 100 times, and had received over 2,000 reactions.

Reverse image searches of key frames led to a matching video published on the website of Al Jazeera. A portion of the Al Jazeera footage is identical to the clip being shared as an attack on Israel. The caption on Al Jazeera’s website reads: “Aftermath of the attack on Iran’s Council of Experts (Majles‑e Khobregan‑e Rahbari) building.” The report specifies that the video shows the destruction following an airstrike on the Council’s compound in Qom, south of Tehran. This Council is responsible for selecting Iran’s next Supreme Leader.
The same incident was also covered by the New York Post and Iran International. According to Iran International, citing the U.S.-based outlet Axios, Israel carried out an airstrike on the Council of Experts building in the holy city of Qom on March 3, intending to disrupt the process of selecting Iran’s new Supreme Leader. The report added, quoting an Israeli defense official, that the attack took place while votes were being counted to determine Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s successor, following his death in an Israeli-U.S. strike on the previous Saturday. As of publication, media reports noted that it remained unclear how many of the Council’s 88 members were inside the building at the time of the attack or the full extent of the damage.
In short, the video being circulated as evidence of an Israeli military headquarters being destroyed is actually footage of the destruction at Iran’s Council of Experts building following an airstrike. It has no connection to Israel’s military headquarters.
