Video claiming BNP leader’s Son assaulted a school teacher in Cumilla is actually from India
A video circulating on Facebook claims to show the son of a powerful BNP leader in Cumilla assaulting a school teacher. A Dismislab fact-check finds the claim to be false. The incident did not occur in Bangladesh; it took place in Andhra Pradesh, India. Reports published by several Indian news outlets confirm that the footage shows a Class-10 student punching a school laboratory assistant in Krishna district on February 26 this year.
On March 9, a personal Facebook profile posted the 13‑second clip. The footage shows a student in school uniform punching a man inside a classroom. As the student lunges at him again, other students and a woman intervene. A Bengali film song can be heard playing in the background.

The caption with the post read: “The son of a powerful BNP leader, Manza Manik, beats a school teacher in Cumilla.” By the time this report was written, the video had been viewed nearly 31,000 times and shared more than 200 times. Multiple other Facebook profiles (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) and pages (1, 2, 3) shared the same clip with the same claim. Another profile posted the video with the caption: “In Cumilla, a Hindu school teacher is punched by the son of a powerful BNP leader, Manza Manik.”
A reverse image search of several key frames produced a video published on March 7 by the verified Facebook page of India’s Times Now. The caption reads in part: “A Class 10 student allegedly attacked a teacher during an argument inside a government high school classroom in Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh. The incident took place at Veeravalli Zilla Parishad High School in Bapulapadu mandal and was captured on camera.” The first 13 seconds of that 37‑second video match the viral clip exactly.
Further keyword searches located multiple reports published by Indian news outlets (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) about the same incident. According to a report in The Hindu, the man seen being assaulted in the video is Rabindra Rao, a senior lab assistant at the school. He scolded a Class-10 student, Puneet Kumar, after catching him smoking. Enraged, the student punched Rao in the chest. The incident occurred on February 26. Some students tried to stop him before teachers arrived and brought the situation under control. The school librarian recorded the incident, and the footage surfaced on social media a few days later.
In short, the video being circulated with the claim that the son of a powerful BNP leader assaulted a school teacher in Cumilla is not from Bangladesh. It shows a student in Andhra Pradesh punching a lab assistant inside a classroom.
