Old video from Shahbagh spread with claim of Awami League procession at Dhanmondi 32
A video has recently been spread on Facebook with the claim that Awami League activists or supporters carried out a large procession and occupied the house on Road 32 in Dhanmondi. However, Dismislab’s fact-check has found that one part of the video is from a movement by assistant teachers of government primary schools in Shahbagh to press home a three-point demand, while the rest of the video was created using artificial intelligence (AI).
The fake video was posted from a Facebook account named “Sheikh Hasina’s Bangladesh.” A scene of tear gas being fired at a gathering can be seen at the start of the video. In the next part, a torch procession and a scene with a woman reporter can be seen. She is heard saying, “Viewers, you are seeing that Dhanmondi is currently in turmoil with slogans upon slogans. I am trying to show that. You can see them chanting exactly the slogan, ‘Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu,’ in Dhanmondi.”
Text within the video reads, “A big Awami League procession is occupying the house on road number 32 by chanting the slogan Joy Bangla Joy Bangabandhu” [verbatim]. By the time this report was published, the post had been shared approximately 450 times, and the video had been viewed approximately 9,000 times.
Conducting a reverse image search using keyframes from the first part of the video, Dismislab found a video report published on Somoy TV’s verified YouTube channel. This video report, published on Nov. 8 of last year, matches the scenes in the video spread with the fake claim. The tear gas being fired, the placard reading “Dabi-1, 10th Grade” (Demand 1, 10th Grade), and the bus standing beside it, all visible in the video report, match those in the recently spread video. The slogan “Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu” is not heard in the original video.
According to a media report, the video is from the afternoon of Nov. 8, 2025, during a police attack with batons, tear gas, sound grenades, and water cannons on a march by teachers in the capital’s Shahbagh. Teachers of government primary schools were carrying out this movement with three demands, including having their salaries upgraded to the 10th grade.
In the last 8 seconds of the fake video, the words “Riziker Rasta” can be seen written in English on the microphone boom held by the woman reporter and in the upper right corner of the video. A Facebook page named “Sohel Truth Media” was found, which was previously named “Riziker Rasta.” A video posted on the page on Sept. 27 of last year was found to match, in parts, the final portion of the video claimed to be from Dhanmondi. Analysis found approximately a hundred videos published from the page that were created using artificial intelligence (AI).
In this portion of the recently spread video, a watermark reading “Veo” can be seen in the bottom right corner, which is a Google AI video generation model. Meanwhile, Hive Moderation, an AI content detection tool, indicated that there is a 99.9 percent likelihood that the video was created using AI.
That is to say, one part of the video spread with the claim that the Awami League held a procession in Dhanmondi and is occupying the house on Road 32 is from a different movement, and the other part was made using AI. The video is being spread on social media with a fake claim, with different audio added to it.
