A video of a street march has recently circulated on the social media platform X, claiming that the banned Awami League has “returned to the streets” and that everyone should prepare accordingly. However, Dismislab’s fact-check shows that the footage is from five months ago and depicts a brief Awami League procession in Dhanmondi, Dhaka.

On February 14, 2026, a user posted a 28-second video on X where some protesters are heard chanting the “Joy Bangla” slogan. The caption reads: “14 February 2926. The Awami League has taken to the streets. Everyone be prepared–if we want to live with dignity, we must fight!! Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu.”

A keyframe search identified video reports published on August 31, 2025, by several news outlets (1, 2, 3) . English daily The Business Standard reported that this was a flash procession organized by the Awami League in Dhanmondi. According to its coverage, the party was seen staging this show of force on the afternoon of August 31, 2025. In its 3:02‑minute report on the same event, Bangla daily Bangladesh Pratidin ran the headline: “Awami League stages flash march in Dhanmondi, detonates crude bombs.”

Footage from these media video reports matches the circulating clip exactly. The buildings across the street, the electric poles, the clothing of the participants in the march, and even the vehicles on the road all align perfectly in both videos. The segment from 1:31 minute to 1:58 minute of the 3:02‑minute news report was cut out and falsely presented as footage from February 14, 2026.

In other words, the video being circulated with the claim that the Awami League returned to the streets two days after the election is actually more than five months old.

Notably, following the August 31, 2025, incident, the reported organizer of the march, Sajibul Islam Hridoy, along with eight other leaders and activists from the banned Awami League and its affiliated organizations, was arrested.
