Fake Amar Desh photocard claims Jamaat threatened voters of consequences if they didn’t vote for the party
A photocard carrying the logo of the daily Amar Desh has spread on Facebook, claiming that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Dhaka Metropolitan South Secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud said that no one would be allowed to live in peace if people did not vote for Daripalla, Jamaat’s electoral symbol. However, Dismislab’s fact-check found that the newspaper did not publish any such photocard.
The photocard carrying an image of Shafiqul Islam Masud was posted on a personal Facebook profile on December 11. Inside the photocard, imitating Amar Desh, the text reads, “If votes are not cast for the weighing scale, no one will be allowed to live in peace: Dr. Masud.” The logo of Amar Desh newspaper can also be seen at the top of the card. The date “11 December 2025” appears on the bottom right, and the newspaper’s website address on the left.

The same photocard was also posted from multiple personal Facebook profiles (1, 2) and groups (1, 2). The description reads, “Warning by a Jamaat leader that people will not be allowed to live in peace if they do not vote for the weighing scale!”
Dismislab reviewed all the posts and photocards published on the official Facebook page of Amar Desh on 11 December, but found no such posts or cards that day.
For further verification, Dismislab contacted the newspaper, and its Assistant Editor Alfaz Anam confirmed that the photocard was fake.
That is, the photocard being circulated in the name of Amar Desh is false. The newspaper did not publish any photocard carrying such a statement by Jamaat leader Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud.
Previously, Dismislab fact-checked and debunked multiple (1, 2) fake photocards spread on social media in the name of Amar Desh newspaper with false claims.
