Several posts have been circulating on social media platform Facebook claiming that the hindu woman, who was allegedly raped in a village in Muradnagar, Cumilla, has committed suicide. Additionally, a fake online report about her death was also seen circulating on a Blogspot site named Sadhin News 24/7, citing the officer-in-charge of the local police station as the source. However, Md. Zahidur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Muradnagar Police Station in Cumilla, confirmed to Dismislab that the news of the victim’s death is false, and the report published based on that claim is baseless.

On June 29, multiple posts (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) on Facebook carried the same claim, stating, “The raped girl of Muradnagar has committed suicide. Please forgive us, sister 🙏.” A review of the comments under one of these posts shows that many people took the incident as true. One user wrote, “I strongly condemn and protest, this is a very shameful incident for the nation, the nation is extremely embarrassed today.” Another user wrote, “She was proud to be born in this nation but committed suicide because of the cruel mob, leaving a message of shame for Bangladesh.”

In addition, an online report on this matter was also published on a Blogspot site named Sadhin News 24/7. The report, titled “Hindu woman’s suicide after being raped in Muradnagar, Comilla: Public demands investigation,” claimed that a Hindu woman who had been raped had allegedly committed suicide. Citing local sources, it stated that the victim was found hanging from a tree near her house. The report also mentioned that Muradnagar police confirmed the incident and that the body was sent to Cumilla Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. This Blogspot report was also seen being shared on Facebook.

To verify the authenticity of the suicide claim, Dismislab contacted Md. Zahidur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Muradnagar Police Station in Cumilla. He stated, “This information is completely false, baseless, and fabricated.” The local official further mentioned that during the time of contact, the victim was present at the police station with her family members. He confirmed to Dismislab that the report quoting him was also baseless.

Therefore, the claim being shared on social media about the Hindu woman’s suicide in Cumilla is false and fabricated.

Notably, on the night of June 26, a Hindu woman in Muradnagar, Cumilla, was allegedly raped, leading to the capture and beating of Fazor Ali of Ramchandrapur Panchkitta village by locals. Some people present at the scene immediately recorded videos of the victim, which were later spread on social media. Police have already arrested five individuals in connection with the incident.
