Old video falsely shared as Dr. Yunus visiting Khaleda Zia at Evercare Hospital
A video recently circulated on Facebook with the claim that Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus rushed to the hospital to see BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. However, Dismislab’s fact-check shows the original footage dates back almost a year. The scene actually shows Dr. Yunus going to a hospital where an interim government adviser, Hasan Arif, died last year.
On November 30, a Facebook group posted a video. The caption reads, “Breaking through security, the Chief Advisor rushed to the hospital. Thanks to the Honorable Chief Advisor, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Sir. For coming to see our beloved leader, Begum Khaleda Zia.” Another video with the same claim garnered nearly 50,000 views and over 150 shares.

Several Facebook pages, groups (1, 2, 3, 4) and personal profiles (1, 2, 3, 4) posted the video. The 2:11-minute video shows a long security convoy stopping in front of LABAID Hospital in Dhaka. Dr. Muhammad Yunus steps out of a black car at the front and walks straight inside the hospital. Many members of the army and security forces accompany him the entire time. The hospital interior appears crowded. Loud background music plays through the video.
Dismislab extracted multiple keyframes and ran reverse image searches to verify the source of the video. A short video published on Jamuna TV’s YouTube channel on December 20, 2024, appears as a match. The captionsays, “Dr. Yunus at the hospital to see the body of Advisor Hasan Arif.”
Further verification through relevant keyword searches revealed another video uploaded on the YouTube channel named “thb bangla.” The description reads, “Breaking security, Chief Advisor Yunus rushed to the hospital to see Hasan Arif for the last time.” The 2:12-minute footage fully matches the circulated clip.

Additional checks reveal multiple online (1, 2, 3) and video (1, 2, 3, 4) reports from different media outlets on the same incident. According to a report by Kaler Kantho, Hasan Arif, who was advisor of the Ministry of Land and the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, passed away on December 20, 2024. After landing in Dhaka from Dubai that afternoon, Dr. Muhammad Yunus heard of Hasan Arif’s death, and he went to LABAID Hospital in Dhanmondi directly from the airport to pay his last respects.
In short, the video of Chief Advisor Dr. Yunus visiting the hospital last year to see the body of Advisor Hasan Arif is now circulating with the false claim that he went to see Khaleda Zia.
For context, BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has been treated at Evercare Hospital since November 29 for lung and heart infections.
