A video has been spreading on social media, particularly on Facebook, with the claim that NCP leader Nasiruddin Patwary was attacked under the leadership of Jubo Dal leader Nayon for making indecent comments about the BNP. However, a fact-check by Dismislab found that the original video is from a different incident. According to a video report by the news outlet Kaler Kantho, the footage actually shows a road blockade by 43rd BCS non-cadre job seekers at Banglamotor on October 23 this year.

The video was posted from a personal Facebook profile late at night on November 9. The caption read: “At this moment, under the leadership of Jubo Dal leader Nayon, a terrible attack on NCP leader Nasiruddin Patwary… This attack happened because of his indecent remarks about the BNP. #Attack #BNP #NCP #Banglamotor.” Many users in the comments appeared to believe the event was real.

One user commented, “For the first time, BNP did something good.” Another wrote, “Thanks to BNP brothers, you gave a proper lesson to Nazir uddin Patowari.”

The same video was also posted from several other personal Facebook profiles (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) with the same claim. The 21-second clip shows several people standing on a road in front of a building. One person wearing a helmet is seen sitting on a motorcycle, while several police officers are standing near a digital billboard.

To verify the source of the video, a reverse image search led Dismislab to a live video posted on the Facebook page of Kaler Kantho on October 23. The description read: “LIVE: BCS non-cadre job seekers block the road, police deployed in front of the NCP office.” The 11:18-minute video matches exactly from 1:27 minutes to 1:48 minutes with the viral clip.

For further verification, keyword searches were done using “BCS,” “non-cadre job seekers,” “NCP office,” and “Banglamotor.” It was found that several media outlets (1, 2, 3, 4) had published reports on the same incident at that time. A report published by Prothom Alo on October 24 was titled: “Protesters block road at Banglamotor at night, disrupting traffic.”

The report stated, “A group of protesters blocked the road at Banglamotor in Dhaka. Police said they were 43rd BCS non-cadre job seekers. Around 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, they blocked one side of the road in front of Rupayan Tower, causing traffic disruption.” Citing police sources, the report added that the protesters took to the streets in protest against the delay in approving the Special Regulation-2025 for non-cadre recruitment and the deprivation of recommended candidates. They were seen chanting various slogans.

Therefore, the video being circulated actually shows a scene from a job seekers’ protest at Banglamotor on October 23, which is being falsely shared as a scene of an attack on Nasiruddin Patwary.

Notably, on November 2, at a roundtable of the National Olama Alliance held at the BMA Auditorium in Dhaka, Nasiruddin Patwary raised allegations of extortion against Robiul Islam Nayon, a member secretary of Dhaka South Juba Dal. The following day, a Jubo Dal leader sued Patwary in a Dhaka court, accusing him of making defamatory remarks about Nayon.
