Dismislab published this factcheck report concerning the date of a photograph depicting a fruit vendor in Dhaka city, concluding that the photo was taken in 2008. This conclusion was based on open source information, which had been corroborated by two independent sources. The stock photo websites Alamy and Robert Harding.com listed the photograph as taken in February 2008.

Subsequently, Giridhar Dey, the founder of “Bangladesher Dushprappo Chobi Somogro”, contacted Dismislab regarding the verification of the image. He provided a screenshot of an email communication with the photographer, in which the photographer asserted that the photograph was actually taken in December 1983. Based on this new evidence and further internal review, Dismislab decided to retract the factcheck report.
