The edited video is not of actress Tanjin Tisha

Recently, a deepfake video of actress Tanjin Tisha has spread on social media. The video has been shared as a reel on multiple Facebook pages (1, 2). Many have shared the video from their personal profiles too (1, 2, 3). Upon verification, however, it was revealed that Tisha’s face was superimposed over another woman’s in the edited video.

The edited video was posted on the Facebook page “Susmita,”. Since being posted on 27th December, it has been shared 60 times. A day later, the video was also posted as a reel on the “Online Help Tricks” Facebook page. The video has been shared 13 times from that page.

“If you want to see the full video of Tanjin Tanisha, click on the pin comment link and install Telegram, then you will see the full video,” reads the caption of the reel that was uploaded on the page “Susmita.” The comment link opens a Telegram profile when clicked. The introduction to the “Susmita” page also contains the same profile link. An analysis of both Facebook and Telegram profiles showed that they shared various pornographic photos and videos. The reel published by the “Online Help Tricks” page also includes a link to the same Telegram profile.

Using a reverse image search, the actual video has been located on several pornographic websites. The earliest video had been posted on August 9, 2021. The one-minute, 49-second video shows a woman changing her dress.

In the edited video Actress Tisha’s face was superimposed over another woman’s face. The edited reel uses the segment from 33 to 40 seconds from the original video.

Such videos featuring female actors have previously been created using AI technology. Deepfake videos featuring Indian actresses Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, Kajol, and Rashmika Mandana have gone viral on social media previously. Such deepfake videos of female politicians from Bangladesh have also been circulated.
