A video has recently circulated on multiple social media platforms claiming that Jamaat-Shibir dug up the body of the vice-president of the Rangpur District Awami League from its grave and set it on fire. However, Dismislab’s fact-check has found that the video is from the attack on the grave, house and darbar sharif (shrine) of Nurul Haque, alias “Nural Pagla.”

The video was posted on November 5 from a Facebook profile. In the 48-second video, several people are seen digging up the ground and pulling out a body. The post read, “Pakistani agents of Jamaat-Shibir dug up the dead body of the vice-president of the Rangpur District Awami League from the grave and set it on fire.”

As of the publication of this report, the video had been viewed more than 150,000 times and shared more than 1,700 times. One person commented, “Digging up a human being’s dead body from the grave and burning it is not right in any way” (translated from Bangla). Another wrote, “Bear witness, Bangladesh, they will face the consequences of this, InshaAllah” (translated).

The video has also circulated from an Instagram ID with the same claim. The same video has also spread from Facebook profiles named “Sheikh Hasina,” “Joy Bangla Naogaon” and “Monohardi Upazila Awami League.” These posts, too, have been shared from 50 to more than 300 times.

Dismislab conducted a reverse image search using key frames from the video. This found a video published one year earlier on a YouTube channel named Probash Khabor. The scene at the eighth second of this 3-minute video, published on September 7, 2025, matches the recently circulated video completely. From the video’s description, it is learned that it shows the exhumation of the body of a man known as Nural Pagla or Nuru Pagla.

A relevant keyword search found video reports broadcast on the verified Facebook pages of Daily Ittefaq and Jagonews24.com. In the headline of its report published on September 6 last year, Jagonews wrote, “Bl’ood’y clas’h in Rajbari over Nural Pagla’s grave, stir across the country” (translated). Daily Ittefaq wrote, “Case filed over attack on ‘Nural Pagla’s’ darbar; 3,500 accused” (translated).

At the 11th second of Daily Ittefaq’s report and at 2 minutes 10 seconds of Jagonews’s report, several people wearing the same clothing are seen pulling out a body. The scene matches exactly with the people seen in the video circulated with the claim that it shows the body of the Awami League vice-president.

Multiple news reports (1, 2) reveal that on September 5, 2025, an attack took place on the grave, house and darbar sharif (shrine) of Nurul Haque, alias “Nural Pagla,” in Goalanda, Rajbari. At that time, the attackers pulled the body out of the grave, took it to the Padma Mor area on the highway, and burned it.

In other words, the video circulated with the claim that Jamaat-Shibir dug up the body of the Rangpur District Awami League vice-president from its grave and set it on fire is, in fact, from the attack on the grave, house and darbar sharif of “Nural Pagla.”
