Not Pakistani governor's house, fire scene shows Nepal's parliament
A video was circulated on Facebook claiming that PTI workers have taken hold of the Governor House in Pakistan. However, a fact-check by Dismislab reveals that the video is from the Gen-Z movement in Nepal in September last year. The video shows a fire at the Parliament Building of Nepal on September 9, 2025.
On October 13, a video was posted from a personal Facebook profile with the caption, “PTI workers have taken the Governor House into their hands.” In the 12-second video, smoke is seen rising from a building, and numerous individuals are seen on the roof and adjoining grounds of the building. Up until the writing of this report, the video has been viewed more than 12,000 times. The video was also seen posted with the same claim from another profile.

To verify the authenticity of the claim, conducting a reverse image search using keyframes of the video brought up a report published on September 9 of last year by CNN Indonesia. Translating the headline of the report into English stands as, “Video: The moment protests turned violent in Nepal, arson at Prime Minister’s residence and Parliament building.” The report stated, “As nationwide protests spread across Nepal, an enraged crowd set fire to Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli’s personal residence. Furthermore, that angry crowd launched attacks targeting the residences of several ministers, including Nepal’s President Ram Chandra Poudel. Additionally, as part of a series of tumultuous protests, people entered Nepal’s parliament building, carried out vandalism, and set fire there as well.” The video used in this report shows an exact match with the circulated video.
Additionally, reports were found in multiple (1, 2, 3) international media outlets where the same video was mentioned as scenes of the Gen-Z protests in Nepal.

That is to say, the circulated video is not of any incident at Pakistan’s Governor House; the scene of the fire is of Nepal’s Parliament Building.
