Video from Bangladesh falsely shared as Muslims vandalizing temple in India
A video recently circulated on Facebook with a claim that Muslims were vandalizing a temple in India in protest against the demolition of a mosque. However, Dismislab’s fact-check found that the video was actually recorded in Bangladesh. News reports show that on Aug. 28, 2025, people under the banner of ‘Tawhidi Janata’, attacked ‘Jibon Mohol’, an amusement park in Dinajpur, Bangladesh. The video shows scenes from that incident.
On Aug. 30, a Facebook page posted the video. The 23-second video shows a group of people wearing topis (skullcaps worn by Muslim men) and panjabis vandalizing a structure. They attack the gate and walls of the structure marked “Jibon Mohol,” as well as a sculpture resembling a tiger’s face beside the wall. In the caption, the page wrote, “Muslims are demolishing temples because mosques are being demolished in India, Masha-Allah.”
Before this report was published, the post had received nearly 900 reactions and the video had been shared more than 200 times.

Several Facebook profiles (1, 2) also posted this video with the same claim.
Dismislab conducted a reverse image search using several keyframes from the video. The search led to a video report published by BBC News Bangla on Aug. 29, 2025. The footage in the report closely matches the circulated video. The report, titled “What happened around Dinajpur’s ‘Jibon Mohol’?”, said that clashes broke out on Aug. 28, 2025, between people associated with Tawhidi Janata and park employees and local residents at Jibon Mohol, a popular amusement park and picnic spot. The clashes were followed by vandalism and arson at the park, which the report attributed to members of Tawhidi Janata, a banner that has been used by groups involved in protests over alleged anti-Islamic activities. They alleged that anti-Islamic and immoral activities took place at the park.

A search using relevant keywords found several news reports on the incident (1, 2, 3, 4, 5). A report published in the Daily Samakal on August 28, 2025, said, “Several clashes took place between people associated with an amusement park named ‘Jibon Mohol’ and ‘Tawhidi Janata’ in Biral, Dinajpur. At least 20 people from both sides were injured.”
A search for reports about the incident found several news reports (1, 2, 3, 4, 5). A report published by Samakal on Aug. 28, 2025, said, “Several clashes took place between people associated with an amusement park named ‘Jibon Mohol’ and ‘Tawhidi Janata’ in Biral, Dinajpur. At least 20 people from both sides were injured.”
A report by Prothom Alo said, local residents had long alleged that immoral activities took place at the park. Supporters of Anwar Hossain held a protest there that afternoon, saying that they were protesting what they described as “propaganda and conspiracy” against him. At the same time, local residents held a protest under the banner of Tawhidi Janata, demanding Hossain’s arrest.

The report further said that during the confrontation, both sides attacked each other with sticks. Some people then entered the amusement park and looted property. The park was eventually set on fire. At least 12 people, including a journalist, were injured by bricks thrown during the clashes.
Therefore, the claim that the video shows Muslims vandalizing a temple in India in protest against the demolition of a mosque is false. The video actually shows clashes and vandalism at Jibon Mohol, an amusement park in Dinajpur, Bangladesh.
