An image is circulating on social media claiming that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman visited Faiza Akter, the only surviving child who lost her family in a road accident in Saudi Arabia. The same image has also been used in reports published by some online media outlets. However, a fact-check by Dismislab shows that the image was created using a different photograph and generated with the assistance of AI.

A Facebook page named Akram Mizi posted an image showing the Jamaat chief with Faiza. The post states that he met the young girl, who lost her entire family in the Saudi accident, immediately after he returned home from hospital. It further claims, “Even after such a major incident, no prominent person has gone to inquire about this girl. Yet, the Jamaaat chief met her although he was ill, and returned from the hospital just a short while ago What they discussed is not yet known.”

  • Fact-check: AI-generated image falsely shows Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman meeting Saudi road accident survivor Faiza Akter.

So far, the post drew more than 13,000 shares and over 5,500 comments. Many have expressed gratitude to the Jamaat Ameer. One commenter wrote, “When you see the works of the Ameer-e-Jamaat, it feels like humanity is still alive.”

The same image with the same claim has been shared from public groups named Dr. Shafiqul Rahman, Barrister Shahriar Kabir Group Bangladesh, Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir (BICS), and Dr. Shafiqul Rahman Supporter Group. A profile named Dari palla has also shared it in multiple public groups.

An online media outlet named Doyel News published a report using the image, with the headline: “Despite Ill Health, Ameer-e-Jamaat Stands Beside the Child Who Lost Her Parents in the Saudi Tragedy.” The report further states, “After being discharged from the hospital, instead of returning home, he went directly to the child. He pulled her to his chest and consoled her by stroking her head for a long time.”

A keyframe search finds a report by Ekushey Television. In that report, instead of the Jamaat Ameer, a different individual is seen with Faiza Akter. In the image, Faiza Akter’s clothing, the bandage on her hand, the bed sheet, and the wall in the background fully match those in the circulated image.

An AI test through Google Gemini’s AI detection tool “SynthID” found that the image was created or edited in whole or in part using AI tools. Verification using AI content detection tools Hive Moderation and AI or Not also showed that there is an almost 100 percent likelihood that the image was generated using AI.

Additionally, no media outlet has published any report stating that the Jamaat chief visited injured child Faiza Akter following the road accident in Saudi Arabia.

In other words, the image claiming to show the Jamaat Ameer meeting Faiza was created using AI.

Notably, five Bangladeshis, including four members of one family, died in a road accident in the Saudi city of Abha. The accident occurred on February 15 around 3:00 a.m. Bangladesh time while they were returning home in Saudi Arabia from Jeddah after completing Umrah. Faiza Akter is the only surviving member of the family.
