Several videos circulating on Facebook claim that the two prime suspects in the murder of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi have been arrested in India. A Dismislab fact-check finds the videos to be false. All of them were generated using artificial intelligence.

A Facebook page named “Jhinedar Khobor” posted a 32‑second video with the caption, “The two main accused in the Osman Hadi murder have been arrested in India!” The video appears to show Faisal Karim Masud, the primary accused in the killing, and his associate, Alamgir Hossain, being apprehended. As of publication, the post had been shared 92 times and the video had nearly 8,000 views.

A 15‑second mirrored version of the same footage was shared from multiple Facebook profiles. The text on the video reads, “Faisal, the killer of Osman Hadi, arrested in West Bengal, India.” This version has been viewed more than 61,000 times and shared 38 times.

Closer examination reveals clear anomalies in the 15‑second clip. At the beginning, a police officer approaches the scene carrying what looks like a camera on his shoulder, but in the next moment, the object suddenly turns into a boom microphone. The same officer continues walking while holding the boom. After noticing these inconsistencies, Dismislab used the AI-detection tool Deepfake‑O‑Meter, which determined the video was almost certainly AI-generated.

Another video also circulated with similar claims. The caption reads, “Alhamdulillah, the main accused in the Hadi murder, Faisal Karim Masud, arrested from Bongaon, India.” In the 12‑second video, police appear to escort Masud, but at the six‑second mark, a police officer’s cap suddenly changes shape. Within moments, the faces of several people in the background distort and blur. A still image from this same footage is also circulating on social media. Both Hive Moderation and Deepfake‑O‑Meter identified the video as almost certainly AI-generated.

A third video shows what appears to be Indian military personnel detaining Masud. The 16‑second clip is captioned, “Prime suspect in the martyr Osman Hadi murder case, Faisal Karim Masud, arrested.” Voices in the video claim: “People of the country, we have arrested the main accused in MP Anar’s murder case, Faisal Karim Masud, from the Bongaon area of India. We are placing him in legal custody. After interrogation, the highest level of justice will be ensured. Share the video so the whole country knows.” But at the 12‑second mark, a man walking in the background suddenly vanishes from the frame, another clear sign of synthetic video. AI‑detection tools confirmed that this footage too was almost certainly generated using artificial intelligence.

In short, the videos being shared claiming the arrest of the two main suspects in the Osman Hadi murder case in India are not real. They were created with artificial intelligence.

In reality, the principal accused, Faisal Karim Masud, and his associate Alamgir Hossain were indeed arrested in India’s West Bengal. According to a press release from the West Bengal Special Task Force (STF), Indian police detained the pair during a night‑time operation in the Bangaon area near the Bangladesh border.
