Image of boxes containing mutilated Palestinian remains is AI-generated
An image is circulating on multiple social media platforms with the claim that “Israel has sent 66 boxes filled with Palestinian skulls and mutilated corpses to Gaza.” However, a fact-check by Dismislab reveals that the image was created using artificial intelligence (AI). Verification with multiple AI content detection tools shows that the probability of the image being AI-generated is nearly 100 percent.
On February 28, 2026, a Facebook page named “Protidin Shokal” posted an image with the caption: “Israel has sent 66 boxes filled with Palestinian skulls and mutilated corpses to Gaza.” The image shows several boxes containing human skulls and other body parts. Many people are seen standing around the boxes.
As of publication of this report, the post has garnered at least 27,000 reactions, and the image has been shared more than 2,600 times. The image was also posted with the same claim from multiple personal Facebook profiles (1, 2, 3, 4), a page, and a group.

Dismislab examined the image and found several inconsistencies. The faces of most of the people in the image are distorted, and no one’s face is clear. Inconsistencies are also seen in the physical structures of some people. Additionally, no such image was found in mainstream media.
Verification using AI content detection tools, Hive Moderation and AI or Not, also showed a high probability that the image was created with AI.
That is to say, the image circulated with the claim of boxes filled with mutilated Palestinian remains was created with the help of artificial intelligence.

Notably, following the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, Israel launched attacks on Gaza, Palestine, which continued for more than two years. The ceasefire for this ongoing conflict took effect on October 10 last year. Amid this, on February 4, Israeli forces handed over the bodies of 54 Palestinians to Gaza through the Red Cross. Multiple international media outlets have published reports (1, 2, 3) on this incident.
