A photocard styled with Jamuna TV’s logo has circulated on Facebook, claiming that law enforcers recovered a large cache of homemade weapons and sticks from the home of Colonel (Retd.) Oli Ahmed, president of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). But a Dismislab fact-check found the claim to be false.

On February 11, a personal Facebook profile posted the photocard, which mimicked Jamuna TV’s design and included several images of homemade weapons. The text inside read: “Large cache of homemade weapons and sticks recovered during search at Col. Oli’s home.” The card carried the date “February 10, 2026,” and displayed Jamuna TV’s logo, website address and social‑media links. The post, which also claimed a raid had taken place at his residence, had been shared more than 230 times at the time of reporting. Another user posted the same graphic with the same claim.

To verify authenticity, Dismislab reviewed all photocards and posts published by Jamuna TV on February 10. The outlet’s verified Facebook page and website carried no such content, and the font used in the viral graphic differed noticeably from the fonts used in Jamuna TV’s genuine visuals.

Dismislab also contacted Jamuna TV, and Rubel Mahmud, editor of the New Media division, confirmed: “We did not publish any such photocard.”

No credible news outlet has reported any recovery of weapons from the home of Col. Oli Ahmed.

A reverse image search of the photographs used in the fake card led Dismislab to multiple reports (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) published on August 14, 2024. According to Prothom Alo, that footage was from a raid at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University in Dinajpur district, where officials found bamboo sticks, iron pipes, machetes, petrol bombs, hockey sticks, knives, swords and narcotics inside residential halls. The operation was conducted by university authorities with assistance from the army.

In short, the claim that weapons were recovered from Col. Oli Ahmed’s home – and the photocard circulated in Jamuna TV’s name – is entirely false.
