Social media posts claiming that Nurul Haque Nur, president of Gono Odhikar Parishad and a candidate for the Patuakhali-3 constituency, was shot and critically injured are false.

The claim first appeared on a personal Facebook profile, which said the former Dhaka University student leader was shot in Dashmina, Golachipa, and was being rushed to Dhaka in critical condition. This post was then shared by several other Facebook profiles, pages, and groups (1, 2, 3, 4, 5).

However, a review of Gono Odhikar Parishad’s official Facebook page found no mention of such an incident. Local media outlets also did not report any events to support the claim.

Abu Hanif, the party’s media coordinator, clarified to Dismislab that Nur was not shot. He confirmed that while the party office had been attacked, Nur himself was unharmed and was in Patuakhali for the election.

There is no evidence to support the claim that Nurul Haque Nur was shot. The posts circulating on social media claiming he was attacked and critically injured are false.
