Fake Amar Desh photocard circulating about Mirza Fakhrul
Recently, a photocard with the logo of the daily Amar Desh has been seen circulating on Facebook. The card reads “Mirza Fakhrul removed his cap after the election ended.” However, a fact-check revealed that the news outlet did not publish any such photocard.
On February 16, 2026, the photocard containing photos of Mirza Fakhrul spread from multiple Facebook groups (1, 2, 3). The photocard mimicking Amar Desh, was created by combining two photos of Mirza Fakhrul — one wearing a cap and one without a cap. The caption reads, “After the election ended, no cap on his head.” Inside the card it says “Mirza Fakhrul removed his cap after the election ended.”

The Amar Desh logo is placed in the middle at the top of the card. Additionally, “February 16, 2025” is written on the bottom left of the card and the newspaper’s website address is on the right. As of writing this report, the photocard drew more than 5,800 reactions, over 500 comments and more than 1,000 shares. The photocard has also been circulated from multiple personal Facebook profiles (1, 2, 3).
One user commented: “This is called religion trade.” Another wrote, “They are basically trading religion. And they call Jamaat this.”
To verify the photocard’s authenticity, Dismislab checked the photocards and posts from February 16 on Amar Desh newspaper’s official Facebook page. However, no such photocard or news was found on the news outlet’s official Facebook page. There is no such news on the news outlet’s Website or YouTube channel either.
Dismislab also contacted Amar Desh newspaper. Alfaz Anam, Associate Editor of the news outlet, said that the circulated photocard is not from Amar Desh newspaper.
In other words, the photocard circulated in the name of Amar Desh newspaper is fake. Amar Desh newspaper did not publish any photocard regarding Mirza Fakhrul not wearing a cap after the election.
